But viewers of the show have claimed that their “car crash” performance has given them no option but to change the channel.
One wrote on Twitter: “First rule of being a presenter is to be able to read the autocue without looking like you’re reading the autocue.
“These two are the Z-list ASDA own brand of BTEC presenting. Car crash ahead for This Morning.”
A second mocked: “Emergency services on full alert in London for a potential car crash involving John Barrowman and Emily Atack.”
A third added: “Three minutes into John Barrowman and Emily Atack presenting This Morning and it’s already too painful to watch,” while a fourth moaned: “God this is going to be a right mess.”
However, some fans of the pair were quick to jump to their defence, with one writing: “The comments on This Morning so far are so nasty! Give them a chance! Trolls.”
Emily soon won viewers over, with one commenting: “A couple of minutes into This Morning and totally blown away by Emily Atack’s presenting.
“A complete natural, looks like she’s been doing it for years, and a hard first story to go in with.”
Another echoed: “I think Emily Atack is really good at presenting, so far her lines have really flowed, a real natural. Hope she becomes a regular stand in.”
Unfortunately for fans of the Inbetweeners star, Emily’s presenting gig will just be a one-off, with Rochelle Humes hosting the daytime show with John next week.
