Josey Rebelle, cktrl and Dry Cleaning join Grace Jones’ Meltdown line-up
Grace Jones has added more acts to her Meltdown Festival line-up.
Josey Rebelle joins the programme, along with former Crack Magazine cover star cktrl, Dry Cleaning, Greentea Peng, Eska and Alewya. Tickets for the newly-announced shows go on sale on 13 April at 10am (GMT).
Furthermore, Jones has curated a programme of free events, which range from hula hooping masterclasses, to a roller skating party and a public catwalk with Africa Fashion Week London. The Meltdown celebration will be kickstarted by a collaboration with No Signal, which will see selectors go back-to-back for the Nightclubbing opener. Jones is also set to host the Island Life Reggae Soundclash, which will see two sound systems go head-to-head in a celebration of her homeland, Jamaica.
Those already announced for the programme include Solange, Jimmy Cliff, Skunk Anansie, Baaba Maal and Oumou Sangaré.
Jones was first announced as Meltdown’s 2020 curator in 2019. The festival has been delayed for the past two years due to the Covid-19 pandemic. It’s set to take place at the Southbank Centre on 10-19 June 2022. Previous curators include David Bowie, Yoko Ono, Patti Smith, Nick Cave and M.I.A.
