BICEP’s Matt McBriar Recovers After Brain Tumor Surgery
BICEP‘s Matt McBriar is currently recovering after undergoing surgery to remove a non-cancerous brain tumor. As Matt McBriar focuses on his health, his duo partner Andy Ferguson will continue performing solo for their upcoming shows.
Matt McBriar shared the news on Instagram, explaining that he first began experiencing unusual headaches and fatigue in late 2023. After undergoing several tests in early 2024, doctors discovered a rare Craniopharyngioma tumor located on his pituitary gland. Although the tumor was non-cancerous, its size and proximity to his optic nerves posed a significant threat to his vision and overall health.
In his post, Matt McBriar expressed relief that the tumor was caught early, emphasizing the importance of the initial tests. He shared that without early detection, he could have faced permanent vision loss or other serious complications.
The surgery, which took place on August 9, 2024, was successful, and Matt McBriar is now resting in the hospital. His recovery is expected to take six to eight weeks, with ongoing aftercare. While Matt McBriar focuses on healing, Andy Ferguson will be stepping up to perform solo at their scheduled events.
In his message, Matt McBriar thanked his friends, family, colleagues, and NHS staff for their unwavering support throughout this challenging time. He also emphasized the value of the healthcare system and encouraged people to continue supporting it.
As Matt McBriar recovers, BICEP fans can look forward to Andy Ferguson‘s solo performances, and Matt McBriar‘s return to the stage once he’s fully healed.
