Djrum to release first album in six years, ‘Under Tangled Silence’

Djrum is releasing a new album titled ‘Under Tangled Silence’ via Houndstooth on April 25.

The 11-track outing is his first LP in six years, following on from 2018’s ‘Portrait With Firewood’ on R&S.

The album was made with a quote from Patti Smith – “We go through life. We shed our skins. We become ourselves” – rattling around the head of the DJ and producer, real name Felix Manuel, inspiring a creative rebirth.

It sees the London-based artist dip back into his roots as a child prodigy instrumentalist, bringing piano, harp and more into emotionally resonant hybrid soundscapes, that also keep his ear for dancefloor impact and soundsystem culture at the fore.

Newly released single ‘Three Foxes Chasing Each Other’ opens on intricate wood chimes before upping the ante with machine gun-esque percussion and rhythmic experimentation, while the previously released album opener ‘A Tune For Us’ dances across lush piano and jazz drumming.
