Over 12 days at Sphere Las Vegas, 200,000 people came to see a groundbreaking audiovisual show called Afterlife Presents Anyma ‘The End of Genesys’. Fast forward to September 16, a small audience gathered in the GRAMMY Museum’s Clive Davis Theater, which seats only 200 people, for ‘A Conversation With Anyma’. This was one of the smallest audiences in years for Anyma, the New York-born DJ/producer and multi-instrumental artist. Fans rarely get a close look at the artist’s creative process, especially one as busy as Anyma himself and this event in Downtown Los Angeles offered a unique opportunity for the fans to witness it live.

Steven J. Horowitz, Senior Music Writer at Variety, moderated the discussion. It provided insight into the Genesys concept’s origins, the creation of ‘The End of Genesys’, and the growth of Anyma and his character, Eva. This conversation confirmed that Anyma’s next phase is beginning now with the release of the new compilation album, Quantum Echoes Pt. I. To emphasize the power of this awesome album, it features tracks from Anyma, Chris Avantgarde, Adriatique, Cassian, Massano, and others. Furthermore, it builds on the “Quantum” theme that Anyma has mentioned since finishing the Genesys series.

Quantum Echoes Pt. I is now available via Afterlife Records. Fans can buy the album for streaming on Beatport and/or click ‘Play’ on the Spotify link below to start streaming it while reading this article. According to the press release for the album, “Quantum delves into the unseen fabric of reality, drawing inspiration from quantum computing, breakthroughs in artificial intelligence, and technology’s impact on humanity.” Shown below are three notable talking points from ‘A Conversation With Anyma’; the likely last show of ‘Quantum Genesys’, the possible release of ‘You Make Me’ with RÜFÜS DU SOL, and the upcoming ÆDEN show at next year’s Coachella.

The ‘Quantum Genesys’ show at the Great Pyramids of Giza might be the last Genesys show for the near future

Anyma’s two-part, dual-stage Quantum Genesys’ show at the Great Pyramids of Giza on October 10 will likely be his last performance of the Genesys show for some time. At this show, Anyma will present his first two-part performance across two stages: the Quantum Stage, which won’t have visuals but will feature an installation about the “quantum” concept with cables and circuitry, and the Genesys Stage, showcasing Anyma’s signature technology on a large screen.

Anyma shared thoughts about this show, “I really wanted to have the experience both ways [screen and no screen] and go back kind of in a journey, maybe for the last time of Genesys – actually, probably [the last time],”.

The potential release of the collaborative track, ‘You Make Me’ with RÜFÜS DU SOL

After three years of waiting, Anyma and RÜFÜS DU SOL are still uncertain about the release of their collaboration, ‘You Make Me’. Anyma believes their plans will eventually align so they can share the track at the right time, especially since fans have got to witness the track live at various Afterlife events worldwide.

Anyma discussed about this potential, must-not-miss release, “The good thing about the record is that it’s now been three years, and it still feels very exciting and fresh. It’s not becoming old because this would mean maybe it doesn’t come out if it feels that way, but I spoke to the guys and they also don’t feel that way at all. I’m hopeful that one day, it’s going to come out and we’re going to figure this out, but it’s not on the deluxe album, sorry.”

ÆDEN, the anticipated show of Anyma at Coachella next year

Coachella‘s lineup was released earlier this year, perfectly timed with ‘A Conversation With Anyma’. He briefly discussed his new live show for next April at Coachella called ÆDEN. The ÆDEN poster shows Anyma walking toward a temple, trailing cables. He explained that this scene is inspired by his journey through the history of art, including neoclassical influences.

Anyma described what ÆDEN will be like at Coachella, “I’ve been focusing a lot on characters and figurative stuff, and I now want to take a broader view on everything and upload the history of art to the cloud. [ÆDEN] is going to be the universe where this takes place.”
