AVA announces masterclasses and speakers for Printworks London conference
AVA London has revealed the full programme for its 2022 conference.
Taking place at South London venue Printworks on 18th March, the team behind Belfast’s mighty AVA festival will return to the capital for a day of masterclasses, keynote talks, Q&A sessions and workshops, alongside performances, from some of the biggest names in electronic music.
Among the artists lined up for performances and talks are Techno kingpin Carl Cox, who will host a virtual Q&A on innovation in conjunction with Virtuoso — AVA’s education partner. Patreon host a live “Fireside Chat” in association with Shesaid.so, a global community of women and gender minorities in the music industry, and the Black Artist Database platform.
Other talks will come courtesy of previous DJ Mag cover star Jamz Supernova, Jaguar and Butterz label co-founder Elijah, with Trainspotting author Irvine Welsh also slated to speak at the event. DJ Mag is also set to host a hot-topic panel on The Future of UK Nightlife with Carly Heath (Bristol Night Time Advisor), Raj Chaudhuri (Living Proof), Michael Kill (NTIA) – and more speakers TBA. In this panel, we will speak to artists, DJs, policy makers, lobbyists, venue owners and promoters to take stock of the challenges facing nightlife in the UK and how we can create a stable, safe and more diverse space for clubbers, clubs, festivals and live events.
Elsewhere, AVA favourite and technical wizard KiNK has been confirmed to host a production masterclass at the conference, with Audio-visual artist and Aphex Twin collaborator Weirdcore set to discuss his work and process in a keynote speech.
Tickets for the event are on sale now, and can be purchased via Kaboodle here. This will be the only event in the Printworks calendar that sees you through both the day and the night, with a combined £40 ticket including the conference and club, with doors opening at 10am for the conference, and open until 4am for the club. There will be an interval between 5-9PM to changeover between the events.
You can see the full list of speakers and artists confirmed for performances — which includes Belfast’s Carlton Doom, Holly Lester, Kessler, Maribou State and Powder — below.
