Burning Man Opens Public Tickets Sales Three Weeks Out From Event Start
In a new twist this year, tickets to Burning Man are available for purchase on a whim with no need to pre-register.
For this year’s burn, which returns to the playa of Nevada’s Black Rock Desert from August 25 to September 2, organizers have opened the festival’s OMG ticket sale to the general public less than three weeks before the event is scheduled to begin.
Traditionally, tickets to the exclusive event have been hard to come by this close to its start. Initially requiring registration—like all other Burning Man ticket sales—when it launched on July 31, the OMG ticket sale can now be accessed by anyone, according to the Burning Man website. Tickets start at $575 before taxes and fees.
“Experiencing the awe, inspiration, creativity, and community of Burning Man in Black Rock City is the antidote to today’s societal division and polarization,” Burning Man Project CEO Marian Goodell said in a press release.
“We are pleased to have fulfilled demand for our earlier sales and be in a position to offer greater access to more people as the event nears,” she continued. “This ticket sale is an exciting opportunity to connect more people interested in Burning Man and the arts and culture.”
Though it’s possible that difficulties at last year’s burn, including heavy rain, flooding, and blocked roads, slowed 2024 ticket sales and led to the public sale, organizers have called attention to how the sale “encourages immediacy and makes it easy for more people to participate in the nonprofit’s signature annual gathering.”
