Carl Cox Cancels Movement Festival 2025 Set
We have news that may be disappointing for fans as we kick off the week. Carl Cox is being replaced as the headliner for Day One of Movement 2025, with Jeff Miles taking his place. The iconic British DJ will now postpone his highly anticipated appearance at the Detroit event until 2026. Carl shared this announcement on Instagram, citing scheduling complications as the reason for the change. However, he reassured his loyal fans that he is committed to delivering an unforgettable live show at Movement next year. Mark your calendars—his return in 2026 promises to be a spectacular experience not to be missed!

Movement organizers confirm Jeff Mills will take over the headline slot previously held by Cox on Saturday, May 24th. Widely regarded as one of the most iconic American figures in the Techno scene, Mills stands out as a pivotal force among the internationally acclaimed talents emerging from Detroit. As a founding member of the legendary Underground Resistance, Mills was instrumental in defining not just the artist roster but also the innovative label ideology alongside his partners “Mad” Mike Banks and Robert “Noise” Hood during the late ’80s and early ’90s. His extensive and diverse discography boasts an impressive array of groundbreaking albums. They are inspired by space and science fiction, as well as a collection of club-focused EPs that have captivated audiences worldwide. The eagerness for Mills to grace the stage in his hometown is palpable, as reflected in his statement below:
To be able to play in Detroit is, and has always been, a special kind of magic. It’s one of the few places in the world where anything could happen because of a higher premium of music ‘sense’ most people have, and it’s constantly being handed down from one generation to the next. Detroit is the place that understands the power of music and the value of a soulful and moving experience.
The 19th edition of Movement confirmed their line-up earlier this month. Movement will happen at Detroit’s Hart Plaza on May 24-26. It will feature artists including Anfisa Letyago, Boys Noize, Carl Craig, Charlotte de Witte, Jamie xx, John Summit, Patrick Topping, Sara Landry, Mau P, The Blessed Madonna and many more.
