Daft Punk’s ‘Homework’ celebrated with Teachers mix on 25th anniversary: Watch
A special mix by CK303 has dropped alongside a new short film documenting the Chicago roots of Daft Punk to celebrate the 25th anniversary of their debut album, ‘Homework’. You can watch it below.
The mix features tracks from some of Daft Punk’s main influences including DJ Deeon, DJ Slugo and Paul Johnson. The accompanying film, TEACHERS, directed by Dave Tynan and cut by Michael Donnelly to CK303’s new mix, is constructed from archive material which showcases extraordinary mid-90s footage of the legendary Chicago dance crew House-o-Matics.
Celebrating the Black heritage of the music that influenced the French duo’s debut album, which was released 25 years ago today (20th January), the film hopes to educate and inform the world of dance music about the key role Chicago artists and DJs played in Daft Punk’s evolution.
TEACHERS is dedicated to Paul Johnson, the first artist named on Daft Punk’s ‘Teachers’, who passed away from Covid-19 last year.
