deadmau5 – Sixes
deadmau5 just dropped ‘Sixes‘, a new track sure to ignite the dance floor and satisfy fans of his signature sound. We see its release on mau5trap. This is the kind of track that works just as well for a late-night drive as it does in a packed club. Now, we also see its release in conjunction with popular video game Rocket League. It offers a high-octane soundtrack for the fast-paced gameplay. What’s more, ‘Sixes’ is part of a new EP titled Error5 and is available as a Player Anthem in the game, alongside some of his other iconic tracks.
The track opens with a driving, progressive intro that slowly builds anticipation, a hallmark of deadmau5’s production style. The beat kicks in and hits you with a powerful combination of a thumping kick drum. A simple but effective bassline and a series of arpeggiated synths create a hypnotic, euphoric atmosphere. Secondly, it doesn’t have a frantic, high-energy drop. Rather, it’s a meticulously crafted journey that rewards patience. The track ebbs and flows, with layers of sound added and subtracted to create a rich and evolving soundscape.
Crisp and clean synths, heavy and impactful bass near the end create an overall perfectly balanced mix. While the track is rooted in his classic progressive house style, you can hear elements that feel fresh and modern. Joel Zimmerman proves to maintain the top of his game.
“I’ve been a Rocket League fan forever, so getting to team up and celebrate 10 years of the game is wild. I wrote ‘What a Save’ years ago with Rocket League in mind, and now dropping it in the game brings everything full circle.” – deadmau5
It’s been a busy year for him, with his release of ‘Jupiter’, a product in the works since 2017. In addition, he’s played the stages of Ultra Miami, Tomorrowland, Coachella under Testpilot with ZHU, and is collaborating with Fortnite for his own Icon Skin and themed bundle. Kids, you can get that in August. Catch him at upcoming performances throughout the year including Veld Music Festival, Chasing Summer, and Elements Music Festival. Plus, a two-night affair at Red Rocks Amphitheater in November.
