ILLENIUM Arrives With New Album ODYSSEY Ahead Of Sphere Residency
GRAMMY®-nominated artist and Melodic Dubstep producer ILLENIUM arrives to Republic Records with his sixth album ODYSSEY. The 19-track album is inspired by Homer’s 8th-century Greek Epic of the same name. Moreover, the album features KID CUDI, ELLIE GOULDING, BASTILLE, RYAN TEDDER, TOM GRENNAN, HAYLA, BRING ME THE HORIZON, and more. It captures ILLENIUM’s signature emotional energy and expansive, cinematic sound. Furthermore, He’ll also bring ODYSSEY to life with a nine-date Sphere Las Vegas residency in March-April 2026. This will be his most ambitious live project yet.
ODYSSEY
Similar to the Greek Epic, the album includes fantastic elements, expressed as soundscapes. The ‘Odyssey’ intro features an eerie female vocal. It then opens towards ‘Into the Dark’ featuring MAKO. The track set the tone for the rest of the LP with a strong, orchestra-infused melody. Themes of loss, grief, and powerful romance are embedded throughout the score. The lead single, ‘In My Arms’, features the powerful vocals of Hayla. She gained massive popularity in the last 3 years, dating back to her collaborations with Kx5 and John Summit. Tracks with similar undertones include ‘With Your Love’ with Ryan Tedder, ‘Take Me Back’ featuring Dean Lewis, and ‘Forever’ alongside Tom Grennan & Alna. The album relies heavily on the powerful feelings that each singer portrays on each track.
The album involves darker vocals and intense Bass as well. This is seen within tracks such as ‘Slave to the Rithm’ featuring Rock band Bring Me the Horizon, and ‘War’ featuring LØ Spirit. These tracks showcase grimier sounds, Acid, and filthier Bass, imbued with the power of Rock’s vocal grit. Furthermore, the album has some standalone tracks that add different and unexpected textures to the flow. ‘Not Ordinary’ featuring Kid Cudi immediately comes to mind. The Drum and Bass track showcases ILLENIUM’s versatility and willingness to adapt to different rhythms. At the same time, he still holds to his own style. ‘I’ll Come Running’ featuring MAKO and Zeds Dead achieves the same. The track chooses a slower tempo, with a somber tone, and a fun Break Beat that leads into a final, juicy drop.
The Journey
Naturally, the album pushes more towards an uplifting and optimistic theme. ‘Love is a Chemical’ includes country singer and American Idol runner-up Lauren Alaina. It serves as a strong and nostalgic progressive/big room banger. In addition, ‘To The Moon’ featuring Alok gives us a Deep and Housey whine down. It moves us into the album’s outro, ‘Ur Alive’ with WYLDE, which concludes the album with the triumphant and positive ” look around, don’t forget you’re alive.” All in all, the album exposes the listeners to the full spectrum of romance, as complicated, simplistic, coherent and contradictory as it may be. His ability to tell stories through full-length albums distinguises him from other artists. This solidifies his place within the industry.
