DJ and producer James Kennedy starts 2026 with ‘Try Again‘, a sharp tech-house rework of Aaliyah’s 2000 classic. The track is out now on Don Diablo’s label, Hexagon Records.

‘Try Again’ keeps the soul of the original while shifting it firmly into club territory: faster tempo, rougher textures, and crisp tech-house grooves built for late-night peak-time moments. The result is a focused, dancefloor-ready version that shows the clearer artistic direction Kennedy has been developing in the studio.

Here is what James had to say about the track:

I’m super excited to share the music I’ve been working on and couldn’t have asked for a better label to kick things off with than Hexagon. I’ve been a huge fan of Don’s for many years now and can’t wait for everyone to hear this one!”

In recent years, Kennedy has expanded his presence beyond reality TV. His breakout on Vanderpump Rules opened doors, leading to sets at Coachella’s Neon Carnival, Stagecoach (Diplo’s HonkyTonk), EDC, North Coast Music Festival, and Chasing Summer. He’s played major venues like Exchange LA, Rebel Toronto, and Echostage DC, while maintaining residencies at LIV at Fontainebleau Las Vegas, Big Night Entertainment Group in New England, and Borgata in Atlantic City.
