Kai Phi’s “California Forever” Is An Ode To The Golden State’s Nightlife

Kai Phi, the rising EDM artist, has been making waves with his latest release “California Forever.”  In a recent interview, he shared insights into his creative process and discussed his upcoming tracks “Le Midi,” “Dream Drum,” and “In Dig A New.” The new single is a tribute to the Golden State’s diverse nightlife scene and its contributions to the city’s rich culture.

Through “California Forever,” Kai Phi hopes to honor the music that represents California’s soul, including EDM, Hip Hop, Jazz, Rock, Punk, Pop, and Latin. All of these genres have contributed to this culture, and his latest release is his way of paying homage to that lifestyle.

The DJ and producer’s upcoming tracks each have their own unique sound and vibe. “Le Midi” is inspired by the South of France, while “Dream Drum” is a representation of what drums might sound like in a fever dream while in outer space. “In Dig a New” is an interpretation of the word “indigenous” and was inspired by a Nigerian English class vocabulary parody on YouTube.

According to Kai Phi, when considering the future of EDM, the genre’s steady growth trajectory is likely to continue. This is due in part to its close association with advancements in audio gear, engineering techniques, and technology. He suggests that with the right approach from artists and executives, Electronic Dance music has the potential for explosive growth. He also predicts a promising future for the broader music industry, with EDM serving as a driving force towards transformation.

With inspirations such as Flying Lotus, Burial, and Radiohead, the promising newcomer is poised for a bright future in the ever-evolving genre. Kai Phi has high hopes for the continued growth of EDM, which benefits from emerging technologies like AR, VR, holography, and multidimensional imaging. While supportive of AI, the musician stresses the importance of maintaining an authentic connection with fans, stating that technology should not limit artistic potential.
