New Mysteryland Documentary Now Streaming In The Netherlands
A new documentary about the 30-year history of the Netherlands’ famous Mysteryland festival is now streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
Tomorrow is a Mystery explores the culture of the world’s longest-running electronic dance festival, as well as the deeper meaning of festivals at large, through interviews with Mysteryland’s founders, current organizers, industry experts, artists, and attendees.
Influential artists such as Armin van Buuren, Cynthia Spiering, Maddix, Laura van Dam and many more have provided personal testimonies for the film, which also features archival footage stretching back four decades and a soundtrack of classic dance tunes.
“In 1993, a group of young trailblazers started a dance festival: Mysteryland. Riding the waves of pounding hardcore beats, the festival grew into a colorful, diverse, and sensory-stimulating total experience. An event that goes far beyond hands in the air at a fun DJ set,” reads the film’s synopsis.
“As one attendee says upon arriving at Mysteryland: ‘The pilgrimage has begun again,’” the summary continues. “What does a festival mean to a person? Is it dancing on the volcano? Or is it a spiritual experience? How can you feel connected to thousands of strangers? Tomorrow is a Mystery is a rollercoaster ride through the answers to these questions.”
On the film’s quest for answers, emotional stories from Mysteryland attendees take center stage, with personal anecdotes ranging from marriage proposals to a group of festivalgoers raving with the ashes of a deceased friend.
Tomorrow is a Mystery is currently only available for viewing in the Netherlands. However, fans from elsewhere around the world can visit Mysteryland’s Instagram page to watch several short interview clips from the film.
Mysteryland will return to Haarlemmermeer, the Netherlands for its 31st edition from August 30 to September 1, 2024. Artists slated to perform include Charlotte de Witte, Nicky Romero, Oliver Heldens, MEDUZA, Joris Voorn, Ben Nicky and many more.
