REFUGE NYC announces first names for Spring
Brooklyn venue Refuge NYC has revealed the first names for its Spring season, led by the launch of a new monthly residency from New York house pioneer Victor Calderone alongside appearances from a range of cultured international artists across the house, minimal and techno spectrum.
Beginning on 15 March, Calderone will launch his new residency, matter, with a Sunday marathon set running from sunrise into the afternoon. The Brooklyn-born DJ is one of the most influential figures in American house music, with a career spanning more than three decades and landmark residencies at key clubs across North America. His new partnership with Refuge NYC taps into the long-standing New York tradition of defining DJ residencies that shaped the city’s club culture, offering extended sets designed for deep musical journeys on the venue’s REX sound system.
Calderone has entertained millions worldwide while continually pushing the boundaries of house and techno. The Brooklyn native first fell in love with nightlife at just 15 and has since built a formidable catalogue of high-profile collaborations with global stars as well as underground heavyweights across a wide range of styles. He now leans into darker, more driving territory, but expect him to run a full gamut of grooves when stretching his legs at Refuge each month.
Speaking on the new residency, Calderone says, “Refuge NYC is the real fucking deal! The sound system is on another level, built for the way I play, and the energy from such a diverse, open-minded crowd has made every night unpredictable in the best way. Bring on the residency.”
Beyond Calderone’s residency launch, the Spring programme brings a wide-ranging selection of artists to the Brooklyn venue across daytime, Saturday and Sunday events. On 13 March, a night of forward-thinking house and techno from Cell Injection, Shinedoe, Max Gardner and Adra meanwhile UK groove master Tim Green headlines a Refuge Daytime event on 14 March alongside Maxi Degrassi, Hoss and Yonit.
Later in the season, underground favourite Maher Daniel celebrates a decade of his label and event series The Other Side with a special showcase on 4 April featuring none other than Chilean cult hero Ricardo Villalobos, plus Desyn, Galcher Lustwerk with one of his iconic live sets, and Shvili. The night marks one of the season’s key moments as Refuge continues to lead from the front with innovative programming.
Additional highlights include appearances from UK house crew Mason Collective, tasteful sounds from Serge Devant, Mira, Nacho Isa and emotive house wizard salute performing an all-night set, while Sunday Selectors sessions featuring influential New York figures including the legendary Jellybean Benitez and Tony Humphries.
Phones are discouraged, there’s no VIP and no bottle service, keeping the experience raw and unfiltered. Get your tickets now at; refuge.nyc
