Roscius takes us on a journey through organic instrumentation on “No Falla B”

Roscius shares a stunning adaption of the Balafon
A gorgeous new project full of sunshine and organic vibes – we’re loving Roscius’s stunning and unique “No Falla B.” This isn’t your run-of-the-mill organic house album, that’s for sure. Released on Nomadic Recordings, this record throws you into a glorious, instrumental journey, and it’s unlike anything you’ve probably heard lately. Imagine blending Bonobo’s chill vibes with the experimental edge of Four Tet, then throw in a hefty dose of world music percussion, and you’re getting close to the sonic tapestry Roscius weaves.
Roscius talks us through his single “INCELUSIVE” here
What makes “No Falla B” stand out is its focus on the Balafon, a chromatic percussion instrument from Burkina Faso. Roscius stumbled upon it, fell in love, and this album is essentially his love letter to that discovery. The title itself, when mirrored, spells “Balafon,” and it’s a playful nod to this central theme. It’s a “percussive love story” as he puts it, exploring what’s “strange” or “foreign” to us.
The artist describes the album as “A very percussive love story about what is stranger/foreign to us.
As a matter of fact, if you mirror the name “NO FALA B”, it’s “BALAFON”, a chromatique keys percussion, handmade in Burkina Faso, which is the main instrument of all productions on this record. “NO FALA B” is a statement, somehow political, meaning “don’t speak B”, in half portuguese-brazilian – half english. It’s the almost-chronological story of how I discovered this instrument, its sounds, textures and harmonies, and fell in love with it, despite not knowing how to play it the traditional way. Unless B doesn’t stand for balafon, but rather for someone’s name, someone that I’d fallen in love with, and whom I don’t speak its language.. “. “ – roscius
The album feels both cerebral and physical, funky yet meditative. You’ll find yourself lost in the layers of percussion, wordless vocals, and samples. It’s a cinematic experience, divided into 13 tracks that tell a story of discovery and passion.
