Shambhala Nominated For Canadian Festival Of The Year
Shambhala Music Festival has been nominated for Major Festival of the Year at this year’s Canadian Live Music Industry Awards (CLMIAs).
The transformational festival, which takes place annually at Salmo River Ranch in Salmo, British Columbia, announced the news in an Instagram post Tuesday.
“Your unwavering love and support means the world to us,” Shambhala organizers wrote. “We couldn’t have achieved this honour without you. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you Farmily!”
The annual honors, put on by the Canadian Live Music Association as part of Toronto’s Canadian Music Week celebration, recognize Canadian industry contributors in various categories, including new touring artists, music programming, agents and tour managers, talent buyers, audiovisual production companies and more.
Shambhala’s nomination falls under the CLMIAs’ “Venues and Festivals” category, which features awards for grassroots venue teams and arenas alike. Among these honors are Best Teamwork in major, medium and small clubs, Best Teamwork in soft seat theatres, and Festival of the Year for major, medium and small events.
Shambhala’s fellow nominees in the Major Festival category include Ottawa’s annual EDM weekender Escapade Music Festival, the roots music-oriented Harvest Music Festival, Saskatchewan Jazz Festival and Winnipeg Folk Festival.
Country music events like Calgary Stampede, Cavendish Beach Music Festival and Sunfest, and multi-genre shows like Festival D’Ete Du Quebec and Supercrawl, are also on this year’s category shortlist.
Other notable dance music events up for awards this year include Monstercat Compound—the label’s two-day gig in Vancouver—and Contact Winter Music Festival.
Only music industry workers can vote in the CMLIAs. Providing a company name is a required part of the voting registration process. However, those who work in the industry can show their support for Shambhala by voting here.
This year’s CMLIAs ceremony will be held at Toronto’s Frontenac Ballroom on Tuesday, June 4, 2024. Tickets and additional information for Canadian Music Week 2024 are available here.
