Skrillex Addresses Unauthorized Photo Use in Single Artwork

Skrillex has issued a public apology after an X user stated his team of using their personal photo without permission for the cover of his latest single. The track, ‘hit me where it hurts x,’ a collaboration with Dylan Brady and Caroline Polachek.

The user spotted the similarity and reposted the original photo from their gallery, timestamped November 24, 2024, with the caption: “This is a photo I took last year if anybody cares cause what the fuck hahahahahaha.”

Skrillex responded directly on X early November 17, taking full responsibility despite the artwork being handled externally. “We had selected this artwork based on what my team had shared and was completely unaware that this photo was taken by you,” he wrote. “Though this single cover was outsourced, I take 100% accountability. I would love to contact you and do anything in my power to make amends and make this right. My absolute deepest apologies and regrets that this happened.”

The cover artist, Mira Joyce, also addressed the issue in a separate statement, admitting the photo was sourced without proper clearance and that she had edited it under the assumption it was stock material.

Big ups to Sonny for taking accountability and proves why he’s one of the GOATs in the industry.
