Spotify Integrates Tool To Import Playlists From Other Streaming Platforms
Spotify has rolled out a new feature within its mobile app that simplifies the process of importing/migrating playlists from other streaming services, aiming to win back users who may have migrated to competitors.
The feature is not a brand-new tool but a direct integration with TuneMyMusic, a third-party service that allows users to shuttle playlists between various platforms, including Tidal, YouTube Music, Qobuz, Beatport, and Napster. This move follows a similar initiative by Apple Music, which launched its own import tool in August.
While users could previously go directly to services like TuneMyMusic, Soundiiz, or SongShift, those free tiers often impose limits on the size or number of playlists that can be transferred. By integrating directly, Spotify now offers the full, unlimited transfer experience from within its mobile app, though the functionality is limited to transferring playlists into the platform.
The integrated playlist transfer tool is currently rolling out globally. The introduction of this user-friendly feature comes amidst contrasting recent headlines for the company. On the positive side, Spotify recently announced strong user growth in its latest earnings report. However, the platform continues to face scrutiny and criticism from a number of prominent artists regarding its royalty payment structure.
