The Cause launches new 200-capacity loft venue in London, Vittoria Wharf

In the latest venture from the team behind London nightlife crew The Cause, a new venue has been established in Hackney Wick, Vittoria Wharf.

The new 200-capacity “events and project space” opened its doors for the first time on Friday (April 18) with an afterparty following an event at their flagship venue.

The industrial loft space is available for private hire, but will also act as the base for many intimate events from The Cause, welcoming the likes of Lukas Wigflex, Kasra V, and Charlie Bones in the coming weeks.

The warehouse space has been “fully transformed by the team”, boasting a four-point Martin Audio soundsystem, bespoke lighting from Sensory Studio, and programming by the knowledgeable The Cause crew.

“For those unaware and for those that are aware, we recently took the keys to a blank canvas, secluded loft space in Hackney Wick and we’re ready to let its story continue,” they announced on Instagram earlier this month.

“Giving spaces a purpose, a place, is something we’ve become accustomed to over the years, creating spaces for our community to take risks, incubating new ideas with room to let them grow.”

The space previously played host to the first edition of the legendary, but now defunct, London Loft Party close to a decade ago, marking a “full circle moment” for the team.

Vittoria Wharf has been “shaped into a fully functional, multipurpose club and arts space”, they explained, which is “loaded with all new bells and whistles but still retaining its original character – exposed brick, canalside views, in one of the capital’s most creative districts.”

The new venture is the latest in a series of new projects from The Cause. After the closure of its Tottenham venue on New Year’s Day in 2022, the team opened up a hi-fi bar in Hackney Wick, All My Friends, before reopening its flagship club space in The Docklands last year.

Since then, The Cause team went to work reopening a dormant pub in Peckham, The Greyhound, followed by the launch of a new Dalston-based restaurant and listening bar, The Marquee Moon.
