Gorillaz are gearing up to make a comeback next spring with their ninth studio album, The Mountain. This will be their first full-length release in over three years! They dropped the news on September 11 along with a new single, “The Happy Dictator”, featuring Sparks. The album plans to hit the shelves on March 20, 2026, and it’s also the first release from the group‘s brand-new record label, KONG.

The Mountain will contain 15 awesome tracks that really showcase the collaborative vibe of Gorillaz. The album features a lineup of artists like IDLES, Jalen Ngonda, Paul Simonon, Anoushka Shankar, Trueno, Yasiin Bey, the late Tony Allen, and Johnny Marr from The Smiths. They recorded it in all sorts of cool spots around the globe, including Mumbai, Los Angeles, Miami, London, and New Delhi, with songs in five languages: Arabic, English, Hindi, Spanish, and Yoruba.

Aside from releasing The Mountain, Gorillaz are also planning a 2026 arena tour

Russel Hobbs, the band’s drummer, shared his thoughts, saying, “As space dust, we are here forever, and that’s a mighty long time. This is a musical meditation infused with light—a journey of the soul, with beats.” They also announced plans for a 2026 arena tour across the UK and Ireland, hitting up nine shows from March to April. The tour kicks off in Manchester at the Co-op Live Arena on March 21 and wraps up at Dublin’s 3Arena on April 1. After that, they’ll have a special stadium show at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on June 20, with Sparks and Trueno joining them.

Gorillaz debuted some new tracks during their last night at London’s Copper Box Arena, which ended last week with a surprise show featuring new music and a bunch of unexpected acts. This series of performances celebrated 25 years of the legendary virtual band, along with an exhibition called “House of Kong”, which was on display in London from August to September. Additionally, they recently brought back a fan-favorite virtual experience, “Kong Studios”, which originally launched on the group’s website two decades ago. This interactive experience lets fans explore the various rooms of 2D, Murdoc, Noodle, and Russel, and promises to keep everyone updated on all things Gorillaz.
