Yellow Claw Return to the Core with ‘JESUS LOVES TRAP MUSIC’
A Return to the Foundation
“Had a lot of fun working on a big project again. 20 records and we could play each and everyone of them in a DJ set.” That mindset sits at the center of JESUS LOVES TRAP MUSIC, Yellow Claw’s 20-track return to the sound that built their movement. Out now on Barong Family, the project is a full-force dive back into trap—loaded with heavy 808s, distorted basslines, and drops designed for maximum impact.
Nostalgia Meets Modern Energy
The creative direction for this project was fueled by a desire to look backward as much as forward. By revisiting their older trap records, the duo discovered that the energy—and the profound connection fans maintained with that sound—had never faded. Nil explains that those songs stood the test of time, citing the impact of the 2014–2015 era as a primary inspiration. This realization sparked the vision for a full-length project, which even incorporated unfinished ideas from years past to fully realize the concept.
The Philosophy of the Album Format
For Yellow Claw, this release transcends mere sound; it is a method of communication. Jim reflects on the importance of sharing a cohesive body of work with their long-term fanbase. Despite the industry’s current shift toward short-form content like TikTok and vlogs, the duo remains committed to the album format. They view it as a way to capture a specific moment in time and offer their audience a complete experience. Whether it is for the car, the club, or more intimate settings—with Jim jokingly highlighting “Lucid” as an “erotic banger”—the album is designed to be lived with.

Sonic Depth and Diversity
The album’s energy is immediate. “Lucid” featuring Aida Sofia sets a hypnotic tone before the project shifts into harder, more aggressive territory. Tracks like “LUV” and “Take It All” deliver no-frills trap intensity, while the collaboration with ARMNHMR, “Keep Your Hands Up,” provides peak-hour force. The project also explores darker, more subterranean textures on tracks like “Deep In The Underground” and “Out Of Focus.”
Elsewhere, the duo allows for melodic breathing room on “Oblivious” and “At Night,” while “Touch It” and “Max Damage” are clearly engineered for the mainstage. “Trap Anthem” serves as a definitive callback to the era that defined the genre’s global rise. Ultimately, JESUS LOVES TRAP MUSIC is a full-circle moment, grounded in the community and shared dancefloor experiences that have defined Yellow Claw from the beginning.
