‘90s rave podcast, R.O.A.R, to be introduced into British Library
A podcast about ’90s rave, R.O.A.R, is set to be curated into the British Library Archive.
After being launched by journalist Tom Latchem and former DJ Chrissy Richards AKA Cris.E.Manic in August 2020, the team behind ROAR: The ’90s Rave Podcast has shared that the podcast will be immortalised in the British Library’s Sound Archive.
“We were approached by the bloke who curates notable podcasts in the British Library Sound Archive,” Latchem said, “and asked if we would be happy for ROAR to feature in there… well, of course we said yes!”.
The series launched with Fabio & Grooverider six months ago, and has since featured the likes of Bryan Gee, Slipmatt and Luna-C. The latest episode, with Moving Shadow host MC Flux, explores the scene’s dark underbelly, and his own secret double life as a performer who sold vast quantities of ecstasy to ravers in association with neo-Nazi terrorist organisation Combat 18.
Check out the announcement below, and you can donate to R.O.A.R’s ongoing GoFundMe to support the podcast here.
In April, an online archive celebrating Blackburn’s acid house rave scene in the late ’80s and early ’90s launched.
