PREMIERE: Nihil Young – Alone Again (Adam Stark Remix) [Magnetic Magazine Recordings]
We’re excited to debut the Adam Stark remix of Nihil Young’s Alone Again on our SoundCloud, available exclusively a week ahead of its official release on January 17th via Magnetic Magazine Recordings. Stark’s remix builds on the emotional intensity of Nihil Young’s original, mixing in his own refined production style to create a version that’s both club-ready and deeply emotive.
Adam Stark has established himself as a cornerstone of Denver’s trance scene, earning recognition far beyond his hometown. Influenced by Tiësto’s In Search of Sunrise series, Stark’s music is grounded in storytelling and emotional connection. His journey from early gigs in Colorado to releases on Roger Shah’s Magic Island Records reflects years of dedication, with highlights like performances at Global Dance Festival and tracks supported by Markus Schulz and Ferry Corsten. Stark’s artistry shines through in this remix, where he channels his passion for trance and progressive music into a compelling reinterpretation of Alone Again.
In a recent interview, Stark shared insights into his creative process, emphasizing the importance of a less rigid approach to production. “Music production is an art form,” he said, “and focusing on the creative, open-ended aspects is key.” This philosophy is evident in his remix, which balances technical precision with raw emotion.
Check out the premiere on our SoundCloud now, and mark your calendars for the official release on January 17th!
A Quick Chat With Adam Stark
Who are the artists or sounds that most shaped your style early on?
I was very heavily influenced by the early Tiesto In Search of Sunrise series. Those mixes were basically the soundtrack of my teenage years. The slow and methodical nature of the mixes, and how every track really felt like it belonged in the mix was something I always very much aspired to be a part of my entire musical career.
Amazingly last year I had two of my tracks selected for the 19th installment of ISOS, a darker clubbier track called Sciya, and a progressive and somewhat balearic inspired remix of Joans Steur’s Second Turn, from the 5th installment of ISOS.
Where do you think the future of electronic music is heading?
I think the future of the industry is moving toward multi genre artists. Crowds are finally opening up widely to multiple genres in a single DJ set and its one of the most refreshing things to see as a fellow music lover.
What’s the biggest mistake you see other producers making when it comes to their creative process?
The biggest mistake I see producers making is putting to much pressure on themselves to make something. At it’s core music production is an art form, and you have to appreciate the artistic parts of it.
Some of the best advice I got early in my career was to take a less clinical approach to song writing, and work on the more create and open ended aspects.
