Ja Rule says he “won’t be attending” Fyre Festival 2
US rapper Ja Rule has said that he won’t be in attendance at the reboot edition of Fyre Festival, which is proposed to take place this summer in Mexico.
Ja Rule, who helped to organise the disastrous 2017 event alongside convicted fraudster Billy McFarland, spoke about the festival’s reboot in a new interview with Rosanna Scotto on FOX 5’s Good Day New York.
Speaking to the host, Ja Rule appeared shocked after learning that McFarland has plans to relaunch Fyre Festival in May. “Oh lord! No he isn’t,” he responded. The rapper then announced: “I’m not going to be there, but cheers,” before raising his glass to the host.

Ja Rule was involved with the launch of the debut edition of Fyre Festival in 2017 after getting to know Billy McFarland through a previous business venture.
After the disastrous event, both McFarland and Ja Rule were subjected to a $100 million lawsuit filed in California. Ja Rule was later dismissed from the suit in July 2019.
That same year, Ja Rule claimed that he had also been defrauded by McFarland, and was dismissed from another lawsuit – a class action case filed by Fyre attendees.

In a 2019 tweet, Ja Rule claimed that he had “an amazing vision to create a festival like no other”, adding that he would “never scam or fraud anyone”, asking: “What sense does that make?”
Last month, tickets for Fyre Festival 2 went on sale along with an announcement of the “real” location and date. The reboot edition will allegedly go ahead on Isla Mujeres, just off the coast of Mexico, from May 30 – June 2, 2025.
Locals and tourism officials on Isla Mujeres have since denied knowing anything about the proposed event. Speaking to The Guardian last month, local tourism directorate Edgar Gasca said: “We have no knowledge of this event, nor contact with any person or company about it.”
