Armin van Buuren merges Bach with techno on ‘Bach to the Future’ with BLR: Listen

Armin van Buuren has unveiled the inspiration behind Bach To The Future, his recent collaboration with BLR. The track draws directly from classical composer Johann Sebastian Bach, reimagining the iconic Toccata through a techno lens. In a candid video shared on his social platforms, Armin opened up about the personal backstory behind the project.

He recalled growing up in a home filled with classical music, thanks to his father’s deep appreciation for the genre. “I had a love-hate relationship with it,” he admitted, “but I started valuing it more as I got older.” That emotional connection became the foundation for the track, which he calls an homage to his father’s musical taste.

The idea originated with longtime friend Léon Bolier, also known as BLR. After sharing the early sketch with Egbert from the Lilly Palmer project, the creative direction quickly took shape. Together, they crafted a composition that bridges the elegance of baroque music with the momentum of modern techno.

Moreover, Bach To The Future is not an isolated tribute. The track forms part of a broader theme in Armin’s latest album, which includes multiple pieces shaped by the classical music that filled his childhood home.

In this release, he manages to preserve a personal memory while pushing boundaries on the dancefloor. Stream Armin van Buuren & BLR collab ‘Bach To The Future’ on Spotify below or via your preferred platform here.
