Christophe Salin Returns with Hypnotic and Heartfelt “Raw Stuff” EP on Salin Records
For the second Salin Records release of the year, label head Christophe Salin turns the dial inward on “Raw Stuff“: a deeply personal, transportive collection of three original house cuts that shine with emotional clarity and masterful technique.
True to Salin’s ethos of narrative-driven electronic music, Raw Stuff is entirely meant to feel like a soul-to-soul conversation. Each piece is a chapter in a story told through kick drums, pads, and purpose, and an invitation to follow Salin’s evolution both as a producer and as a whimsical seeker of sound.
Opener “Let’s Go Deep” sets the mood with a blend of warm, rolling rhythms and flickering synths, wrapped in whispering vocal textures. There’s a steady pulse here, where groove and vulnerability walk hand in hand. The liquid and light “Keep It Up” floats in next with a soft-focus swirl of keys, percussive polish, and cloud-scraping melodies that stretch time in all directions.
Then, in a quietly radical turn, “More Than Just the Words” strips everything back, ending the EP with a space to breathe. Pads hover, effects glisten, and Salin lets silence speak. That is, until the live version brings a final twist, adding subtle propulsion without losing the track’s weightless grace.
“Raw Stuff” is an immersive listen, best experienced front to back in one session. It’s Salin at his most open-hearted and compositionally free, carving out a tender, groove-rich space where house music serves as a place for both dancing and introspection. All in all, it’s a gorgeous, mature EP from a highly technical and experienced producer who understands that sometimes the rawest stuff is also the most refined.
