RÜFÜS DU SOL Concert Attacker ARRESTED on Assault & Battery Charges

Following a disturbing viral video of an assault at a RÜFÜS DU SOL concert, Pasadena police have arrested the suspect. Julio Cesar Lopez Zavala, 23, was taken into custody at his Hawthorne home, charged with multiple assault and battery counts.

Authorities confirmed to TMZ that Zavala’s arrest for felony battery with great bodily injury, felony assault with great bodily injury, and misdemeanor battery, stemming from a violent incident at the Rose Bowl on August 16, 2025. The charges were confirmed in a report to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.

As previously reported on EDMTunes, the shocking incident occurred during the band’s sold-out show on August 16, when a man violently punched Shelby Elston unconscious following a spilled drink altercation. The disturbing moment was caught on video and quickly went viral across social media.

RÜFÜS DU SOL issued a heartfelt statement on Instagram shortly after the news broke, condemning the violence and expressing their commitment to safe spaces at their shows. The post reads:

We are shocked and saddened to learn about the senseless act of violence that occurred during our Rose Bowl show this weekend. This behavior is unacceptable and will not be tolerated at our shows. We are working closely with local authorities to help in the investigation.
