Sanctum of Sound Announces Debut 51-Hour Festival at Berlin’s MaHalla

Sanctum of Sound has officially announced the launch of its first full-scale festival edition, hosted at the iconic MaHalla in Berlin. The event is scheduled to run continuously for 51 hours, beginning on July 3 and concluding on July 5, 2026. This ambitious project is positioned at the intersection of ambient, experimental, electronic, devotional, and psychedelic music, promising a unique sonic journey for attendees.

The festival program is designed to unfold across a variety of environments, ranging from expansive, industrial-scale halls to intimate, focused listening spaces. Throughout the 51-hour duration, the event will feature a blend of live performances, audiovisual works, and DJ sets that fluidly transition between concert, installation, and durational formats.

Emerging from a successful Berlin-based event series, Sanctum of Sound aims to extend its core philosophy of deep listening into a continuous, immersive format. By removing the constraints of a traditional, rigid schedule, the festival encourages an open flow, allowing visitors to navigate the curated program at their own pace and rhythm. This approach effectively blurs the distinctions between day and night, rest and movement, and the traditional roles of audience and performer.

The lineup features a diverse array of pioneering figures, cross-disciplinary artists, and a new generation of experimental musicians. The curation spans a wide spectrum of sound, including ambient, drone, minimalism, and exploratory electronic practices. With this inaugural edition, Sanctum of Sound proposes a shift in temporal logic for festival culture, prioritizing immersion, duration, and focused attention over the typical industry focus on intensity and acceleration.
