Porter Robinson and Ninajirachi Unveil Highly Anticipated Single ‘WannaCry’
Following a surprise debut during her set at Coachella this past April, Ninajirachi has officially released her highly anticipated collaboration with Porter Robinson, titled ‘WannaCry’. The track, which has been a staple in both artists’ live sets across Washington, D.C. and Sydney, Australia, is now available via NLV Records.
Drawing inspiration from the 2017 cyberattack of the same name, ‘WannaCry’ adopts the perspective of a computer virus through its lyrical narrative. The production opens with an infectious, upbeat intro before transitioning into a more romantic tone, highlighted by Nina’s vocals and the poignant line, “I’ve got a charm, I wanna put it on your heart.”
The track serves as a significant moment in Porter Robinson’s return to electronic dance music. He contributes vocals to the second verse, weaving in thematic elements reminiscent of his recent SMILE 😀 album. The production is characterized by a catchy lead melody and drops filled with deliberately glitchy, computerized textures that align perfectly with both artists’ signature digital-age aesthetics.

To celebrate the release, the duo joined triple j Radio for an exclusive interview, where they discussed their initial meeting, the creative process behind the track, and the excitement of the Coachella premiere. Ninajirachi also hinted at further collaborative projects, suggesting that ‘WannaCry’ is only the beginning of their partnership. Watch the full interview below.
