Markus Schulz Closes ‘In Search of Sunrise 22’ with ‘Nocturnal Voyage’

Markus Schulz has delivered the final chapter of ‘In Search of Sunrise 22’. Titled ‘Nocturnal Voyage’, the third and closing part of this year’s trilogy is out now via Black Hole Recordings, taking the long-running series deeper and darker into the night.

Since taking over the series solo, Markus Schulz has reimagined ‘In Search of Sunrise’ as a yearly warm-weather trilogy, with each volume telling part of a dawn-to-dusk story. Earlier chapters of ISOS 22 welcomed Above & Beyond, Joris Voorn, VER:WEST, JES and Paul Oakenfold, alongside music from former ISOS mixers such as Solarstone, Giuseppe Ottaviani and Kyau & Albert.

A Shift in Atmosphere

This time, the mood shifts. “The ethos with this particular journey was a linear approach, specifically to create a hypnotic atmosphere,” Schulz explained. “Very few key changes, no big buildups or peaks, but an emphasis on the groove and darker tone, all while harnessing the emotional core that still resonates within an ISOS terrain. It’s for those who love adventure in the night.”

Across more than 50 tracks, the mix debuts three new Dakota productions and introduces new ISOS-only aliases such as Aeridan and Shadow Assembly. The later stages are anchored by ISOS remixes of John 00 Fleming & Astral Projection’s ‘Transient Symbiosis’, Sander van Doorn’s Purple Haze classic ‘Abyss’ and Rex Mundi, Ronski Speed & Sir Adrian’s ‘The Perspective Space’. Following last year’s ‘Ten Seconds Before Sunrise’ rework, Schulz and BLR also team up again to reboot Carlo Resoort’s ‘The Silmarillia’.

Expanding the Musical Horizon

New names get their moment too, with Elias Erium, Hobin Rude & N-TCHBL and Enlusion joining the fold, while progressive house icon Guy J makes his first ISOS appearance with ‘Piece of Cake’. After Schulz’s own ‘The West End’, the journey closes with BT’s ‘If Memory Serves (Lunar Mode)’.

‘Nocturnal Voyage’ is available now as a standalone release. From October 23, it will also be part of the complete three-disc collector’s set alongside a deluxe limited-edition vinyl, following last year’s ‘In Search of Sunrise 21’. Order it here.
