‘Aspire To Inspire’ Is Hidde van Wee’s Cleanest Statement Yet
Hidde van Wee is stepping up!
The Dutch producer’s new four-track EP, Aspire To Inspire, is his first outing on Chris Stussy’s label, and it lands like someone who’s done their homework and knows exactly where to take things next. The release drops May 9th via Up The Stuss and marks a clear progression in Hidde’s growing discography.
Hidde’s been gaining traction recently with tight, groove-forward releases on Rossi.’s HOME//GRXWN and Heavy House Society. This new EP keeps that momentum going while widening the scope. There’s still plenty of low-end movement, but now the palette’s stretched out—deep house, electro, minimal, all tied together in a way that feels intentional and made for late hours in packed rooms.
The opener, Aspire To Inspire, does exactly what it needs to: punchy bass, silky top end, and synths that shimmer without getting in the way. Perception Of Swing follows and leans further into the melodic side, but the drums still hit, and the bounce is undeniable. The third track, Motion, pivots the vibe—more hypnotic, a little darker, with a low-end that tugs harder and synths that blur into each other.
It’s a smart middle-of-the-EP shift that keeps things interesting. Finally, Metamorph brings the energy back up with crisp drums and spaced-out synth lines that feel equal parts fun and functional.
Up The Stuss has made a name for itself by platforming forward-thinking club records without overcomplicating the formula. Hidde fits into that mission cleanly here—everything’s dialed in, but nothing feels overpolished or sterile. It’s the kind of release that’ll land in a lot of DJ bags quickly, and deservedly so.
