Berghain to reopen its garden this weekend
Berghain will reopen its garden area this weekend, with outdoor parties set to run from 1PM on Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th July.
Freddy K, Paramida, Etapp Kyle, Ben Klock, and Gabrielle Kwarteng are among the names confirmed to play the first sessions at the legendary Berlin club in over nine months.
Further Klubgarten events are also in place for the following weekend, Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th July. Steffi and Virginia are down to play back-to-back, with Running Back boss Gerd Janson and Fiedel also on the bill.
Anyone wishing to attend should note that entry to all scheduled events requires either proof of COVID-19 vaccination or a negative test taken no more than 24 hours prior to arriving at the address.
According to the Berghain website; “Mouth and nose must be covered by own medical or FFP2 mask in the queue, entrance area and in the entire Klubgarten.” Notably, the venue will also only operate in good weather.
Since winding down club nights as a result of the coronavirus pandemic and restrictions, Berghain has been used as a gallery space. Halle am Berghain currently hosts an art installation inspired by “Berlin’s origins as a swamp“, commissioned by Light Art Space and produced by Danish artist Jakob Kudsk Steensen. This will run until September 2021.
Meanwhile, the contemporary art showcase ‘Studio Berlin’ occupies spaces within the cavernous building including Panorama Bar and Säule until late August. The Berlin government has also taken proactive steps to recognise the significance of the city’s nightlife scene during the COVID-19 crisis. This includes changing laws to treat dance music events as concerts, halving the tax on ticket sales, and officially declaring clubs cultural institutions.
