Bob Moses announce North American tour
In support of their new album BLINK, Grammy-winning production and songwriting duo Bob Moses have announced the Afterglow Tour, a North American run with Cannons. Bob Moses and Cannons will hit venues in cities across North America including two nights at Brooklyn Paramount in New York and the iconic Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Colorado, among many others. The ticket pre-sale will start at 10am local time on Wednesday, November 5, with general on-sale at 10am local Friday, November 7. For more pre-sale information visit www.bobmosesmusic.com.
Bob Moses thrive in liminal spaces, finding their muse in the gray area between rock and dance, light and dark, rhythm and reflection. Which is only fitting given that Tom Howie and Jimmy Vallance’s fourth studio album, BLINK, is an attempt to reconcile past with present. Immersive and resonant, BLINK is an album shaped by the bittersweet passing of time. Its ten songs serve as snapshots, capturing the life moments that inspire and vanish before they’re truly understood.
Much of BLINK was created in an isolation of sorts. Howie and Vallance wrote the LP from opposite coasts (Howie in Los Angeles, Vallance in New York), trading demos through Dropbox and Discord, building ideas from keyboard riffs and drum loops, before ultimately meeting up in various cities including their own, Toronto, and Vancouver to flesh out songs as a unit together in the studio. This shift allowed them to work at their own pace and even surprise each other — a feat considering the strength of their bond, forged from years of working side by side. It also required them to trust their instincts and commit to ideas much sooner than they had in the past, preserving songs in their purest, instinctual form. That fragmented process, never rooted in one place or moment, further deepened BLINK’s ephemeral spirit.
“The album’s like a question: How do you reconcile the desire to have a meaningful life with the realization that it’s gone in an instant, that you can’t hold onto things for too long?” Howie says. “It wasn’t a conscious choice, but the way we made this record fits that idea, and maybe that’s why we’ve touched on it: it’s a phase in our lives where we’re doing everything in moments.”
Since forming in New York City in 2012, Bob Moses have earned massive acclaim for their transcendent blend of house music and emotionally charged pop. Made up of Vancouver-bred musicians/producers Tom Howie and Jimmy Vallance, the duo delivered their debut album Days Gone By in 2015 to widespread critical attention. Meshing guitar licks, a moody smolder, and a dash of dance-floor ambience with lyrical depth and classical songwriting, the duo created a sound that appeals equally to club goers and rock music fans. Bob Moses have had multiple nominations for the Junos and the Grammys, including a Grammy win, and have had repeated top 15 U.S. Alternative radio hits.
Recent critical praise for BLINK:
“All of the smoothness and sophistication we’ve long loved about the duo’s output is present across the 10-track LP, with Tom Howie’s rich vocals giving emotional depth to the lush productions.”—Billboard
“The resulting LP – their fourth – straddles the ever-thin line between for now and forever. Across 10 stirring tracks that find the outfit at the top of its game, Bob Moses awakens to a reality equal parts bitter and sweet: The only way to fix ephemera is to accept that it’s all ephemeral.”—Dancing Astronaut
“The LP is brimming with life and upbeat energy, compiling 10 dance-pop tracks inviting you to make the most of the moment.”—FLOOD
“BLINK feels like time suspended…Bob Moses doesn’t just capture that truth — they make it dance.”—This Song Slaps
