Endzeit Merges Art and Electronic Music for San Francisco Art Week
The Bay Area nonprofit Endzeit has announced California: a shifting identity, a landmark three-day program designed to explore the region’s evolving sociocultural landscape through a fusion of contemporary art and live electronic music. Scheduled for January 23–25, 2026, the event will take place at the historic Pier 29, marking the first public-facing activation of this rare San Francisco waterfront landmark and serving as the official closing weekend of San Francisco Art Week.
California: a shifting identity will transform 70,000 square feet of the pier’s expansive, hangar-like interior into an immersive cultural experience. The event is structured to flow seamlessly between visual art exhibitions during the day and electronic music performances by night, providing a unique lens through which to examine California’s identity.
The Venue: A Landmark Reimagined
Pier 29 offers the vast scale required for museum-grade installations while retaining the raw, industrial character of a working-port landmark. The structure itself serves as a metaphor for the event, as it undergoes a temporary transformation into a hub for experimental culture, perfectly suited to the hybrid format of the program.
A Curated Artistic Vision
The visual art program features a diverse roster of internationally recognized artists, including:
- Mike Parker: A legendary electronic music producer and fine art professor, presenting serigraphs that explore human movement alongside live electronic sets.
- Thomas Heinser: A German-born, San Francisco-based photographer showcasing aerial landscapes contrasted with high-impact portraits.
- Rrose: The interdisciplinary artist Seth Horvitz, who will exhibit photographic works alongside performances spanning ambient electronica and techno.
- Edoardo Cozzani: An Italian multimedia artist exhibiting large-scale photographs on aluminum foil and sculptural installations.
- Yumeng He and Yue Wu: Filmmakers premiering Otherwise World(s), a documentary portrait of the Endzeit community.
- Kirby Stenger: A Bay Area photographer presenting portraits from their Personal Project series, which centers on Queer, Trans, and feminine narratives.
The music program is equally robust, featuring over a dozen live performances and DJ sets from artists including Mike Parker, Rrose, Claudio PRC, Subset, DJ MARIA., Agonis, Tauceti, Raica, RMNA, and Endzeit residents Kudeki and Torsion.
“With California: a shifting identity, we’re collapsing the boundary between white-cube gallery and the rave. Pier 29 allows us to treat sound, image, and movement as a single medium; activating spaces where artists can operate fully across disciplines,” said Mo Kudeki, Co-Founder of Endzeit.
Andrea Aicardi, Co-Founder of Endzeit, added: “Endzeit was founded on the belief that experimental culture should be accessible, inclusive, and uncompromised. Activating Pier 29 for San Francisco Art Week feels like a natural extension of that mission.”
Event Schedule
The event runs from January 23–25, 2026, at Pier 29, San Francisco. Each day features gallery openings at 2:00 PM, followed by artist talks at 5:00 PM, ambient performances from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM, and late-night performances concluding at 4:00 AM on Friday and Saturday.
