Fire at Goa Nightclub Claims 25 Lives

A cold-hearted lapse in the management of a popular club in Goa has spelt doom on 25 lives! ‘Birch by Romeo Lane’ in North Goa’s Arpora village witnessed a horrific incident on Sunday (post midnight) that saw a fire break out due to sheer negligence. It resulted in the demise of 25 people, 4 of them belonging to the same family. It also led to injury of around 50 individuals. Investigation revealed a neglect that is no less than callous as well as criminal at the same time. No sprinklers, no fire alarms, a single exit and no fire clearance is as worse as it gets to handle a occurrence of this magnitude!

Initially passed off as cylinder explosion as the cause of fire, electric fireworks grazing the roof during a show has been determined as the primary reason. Videos of the same also began circulating to lay rest on the blatant claims of the initial reasoning of the rousing flames. Authorities have registered a complaint (FIR) against the two owners, Saurabh (40) & Gaurav Luthra (44), of Birch by Romeo Lane nightclub in Goa, its manager, and the event organizers. The owners have been on the run ever since, latest being known taking a flight and subsequently last spotted in Phuket in Thailand.

 The Ministry of External Affairs in India has sent them notices asking them to explain, within 7 days, why their passports should not be confiscated. Officials said the Goa Police visited the home of the Luthras on Sunday. The brothers run over 20 clubs and restaurants. However they had already fled by then. Authorities in Goa have also demolished a portion of another club, ‘Romeo Lane’, owned by the Luthras in Goa’s Vagator. As per reports, ‘Romeo Lane’ was built illegally on government land.

Submit an explanation why action should not be taken to impound the passport number Z7678521 dated 14/03/2024, under suitable sections Passports Act, 1967 and Section 12(1)(b) of the Passport Act, 1967 should not be initiated against you within 7 days
