Ahead of her forthcoming 10-track LP Miss Anthropocene, Grimes has shared another multidimensional taste of the album with her latest release, “Delete Forever” along with its accompanying music video. Slated for arrival February 21, her fifth studio album has delivered five singles thus far including i_o-assisted “Violence” and “So Heavy I Fell Through The Earth.”

“Delete Forever” shines light on an unseen side of the producer’s artistry with Grimes delivering an acoustic rendering devoid of her usual electronic sci-fi intent productions. A three-way collaboration between Grimes, Mac Boucher and Neil Hansen, the music video depicts the Canadian eccentricity as a tyrant who laments while her otherworldly empire falls.

Underneath the track’s soft exteriors of adorning strings, also lies a heavy theme regarding grief and self-hatred. “It’s about losing friends to the opioid crisis and the self-hatred that arises when the grieving process mimics the behaviors that cost your friends their lives,” states the description. With “Delete Forever”, Grimes passes on obscurity in favor for tenderness in her latest showcase of talent.
