Ibiza clubs can reopen in April
Nightclubs in Ibiza will reopen in April.
According to a recent report from Diario de Ibiza, José Luis Benítez, manager of Ocio de Ibiza — an organisation which represents the interests of clubs, venues, and other nightlife businesses on the island — said at Spain’s recent International Tourism Fair that “The idea is that the opening will be at the end of April, two weeks ahead of what is normally done.”
He added that Ibiza would hopefully remain open “until October… November if all goes well”, and that “all of the island’s major nightlife enterprises are actively working this winter to prepare for the season.”
The report surrounding the tourism fair noted that Ibiza and Formentera lost $2,600 million in visitor expenditure in 2020, and $1,300 million in 2021 as a direct result of the coronavirus pandemic. Ibiza was able to recoup some losses after lifting its coronavirus restrictions on night-time social gatherings in September last year.
Elsewhere, there have been indications that the White Isle has been gearing up for a return for some time now, following initial, reduced reopenings in the summer of 2021. Earlier this year, the owner of legendary Space Ibiza, Pepe Roselló, announced that a Space club night, bar, and restaurant is set to launch on the island in 2022. Superclubs like Amnesia have also announced opening parties, with more clubs expect to follow in the coming weeks.
The Ibiza Tourist Board previously revealed that the UK delivers the highest number of overseas visitors to the island, its nightlife being a main attraction for party-goers.
