Johan Gielen utilizes Airscape alias for ‘In Search of Sunrise 20’: Listen

Johan Gielen has a deep history of success in the trance industry, both as a solo artist and under the guise of Airscape. Now the legendary producer leans into that alias for a new playlist in one of the most iconic mix series.

Originally founded by Tiësto in 1999 and delivered via SongBird, a sub-label of Black Hole Records, the In Search of Sunrise mixes have become a staple of the electronic music scene. After delivering the first seven versions himself, Tiësto passed the baton onto Richard Durand and then Markus Shulz, with the 20th edition being shared by 5 unique artists. Five artists will unveil their playlists over a month, providing fans with a new experience for In Search of Sunrise 20, making this the first multi-producer entry of the collection on this level. Providing one of the mixes is Johan Gielen who has embraced his Airscape alter-ego for his entry into the collection.

“I tried to create a true journey with the mix. I built it with some dreamy, drifting songs which develop into the more modern sounds, in combination with that ‘In Search Of Sunrise’ feeling.”

-Johan Gielen

Fans of trance and Johan Gielen will recall that Airscape was his original moniker before sharing it with production partner Sven Maes in the late 1990s. After the two dissolved their partnership, Gielen resurrected the alias for himself in 2009, continuing to build its legacy and now injecting it into the iconic In Search of Sunrise collection. Providing a beautiful collection of his mixes and tracks alongside singles from artists he feels passionate about, his entry into the iconic series is a beautiful listen.
