Liverpool court will donate money seized from criminals to help fund DJ and production workshops

Money confiscated from criminals by Liverpool Crown Court will be donated to a local charity offering DJ and production workshops to young people.

According to a report from the Liverpool Echo, Valley Community Theatre is the latest charity set to benefit from Operation Payback — a scheme that offers cash seized from drug dealers and other convicted criminals by Liverpool Crown Court to local community charities.

Valley Community Theatre has confirmed that the money will be used to offer free DJ and production workshops to young people as part of a forthcoming project set to kick off in May.

The workshops are set to take place in areas “identified as hot spots for anti-social behaviour,” offering lessons on DJing and creating electronic music in a recording studio.

“The project will give local young people their first step to a fresh start, providing specialised resources and support to help them change their future and prospects for the better,” Valley Community Theatre’s director Martin Ball told the Liverpool Echo. “We know this project will be a success as we have offered it before, with many real-life sliding doors moments,” he added.
