Miami’s Ultra Music Festival was forced to close temporarily over the weekend due to extreme weather conditions.
The festival, which took place in Bayfront Park from March 28 – 30, announced on its final day (Sunday, March 30) that it would halt proceedings amidst stormy weather.
A post shared on the festival’s Instagram on Sunday urged attendees to “seek shelter”, reading: “Due to weather in the area the show is being temporarily paused”.

Earlier that same day, the National Weather Service in Miami issued a flash flood warning for the area, with storms and heavy rain predicted to hit eastern Miami-Dade County.
The festival reopened shortly after the announcement. In an update issued by Ultra, organisers explained: “We are extending the festival tonight until 11:PM”.
Videos of the festival began to circulate on social media showing attendees wearing waterproof ponchos, wading through several inches of rainwater.

“We tried everything to find an alternative solution, but unfortunately, it was out of our control,” they explained, adding that it would be “impossible” for them to attend in time.
“We were really looking forward to playing and sharing this moment with you all. We are truly sorry for this situation, and we hope to make it up to you as soon as possible.”
