Parallelle and Nicolas Masseyeff return with shake it out
Dutch duo Parallelle and French producer Nicolas Masseyeff are back with a new three-track EP on Crosstown Rebels, out July 18, 2025. Shake It Out marks their third collaboration on Damian Lazarus’s label, following 2023’s Renegade and 2024’s Surrender. The title track leads the release with a sharp, percussive club groove, while the B-side Everything explores a more introspective direction. A remix from US-based artist Airrica rounds out the package, pushing the energy into peak-hour territory with acidic low-end and tightened drum programming.
Over the past few years, this trio has established a clear sense of creative alignment. Their productions feel calibrated for both movement and texture—smart enough to explore detail, but streamlined enough to function in the booth. With Shake It Out, they lean into that balance again, and the result is a track that’s rhythmically focused without being overproduced. For DJs playing longer sets that require more functional transitions without sacrificing momentum, this EP offers real utility.

Groove-Forward A-Side, Hazy Late-Night B-Side
The title track Shake It Out is immediate in its intent. Driven by a punchy kick and syncopated hats, the groove is reinforced by layers of psychedelic stabs and a commanding vocal hook that keeps the energy grounded. There’s a live sensibility in the swing, likely a result of the trio’s shared interest in analog gear and tactile control. Nothing feels quantized to the point of sterility, but the mix remains tight and ready for big systems.
On the flip, Everything strips things down. Slower in pace and less focused on big moments, it builds through atmospheric pads, warped melodic touches, and looser, dubby percussion. This is the kind of track that fills in the blanks between heavier records in a set—useful for rebuilding a room or switching gears without dropping intensity entirely.
Airrica’s Remix Adds Movement and Weight
Airrica’s remix of Shake It Out comes with a slightly different architecture. She holds on to the original’s framework but injects a rolling bassline and sharper hats, along with distorted vocal slices that warp around the groove. It’s a more aggressive take, but not in a way that sacrifices balance. The remix gives DJs an alternate version with more tension and drive, especially effective in high-energy moments.
This EP feels like a natural continuation of Parallelle and Masseyeff’s run on Crosstown Rebels. They’ve kept the focus tight, expanded the lineup with a strong remix, and delivered tracks that work both early and late in a night. Shake It Out isn’t flashy or overbuilt—it’s practical, intentional, and ready for use.
