Patrick Topping: From Ultra 2017 to Ultra 2025, 8 Years, A Festival, A Label, and a Baby
Miami’s famous Ultra Music Festival celebrated the return of one of the UK’s most exciting talents — Patrick Topping. The British DJ and music producer stepped back onto the stage and fired up the crowd with an energetic performance that showcased why he’s become a well-known figure in dance music worldwide. After an eight-year break from UMF, he was finally back in action!
Oscar Yerushalmi from EDMTunes sat down with Patrick for a detailed chat that looked back at his journey from his first appearance at Ultra in 2017 to becoming a superstar DJ today.
“I still remember that first Ultra,” Patrick recalls with a smile. “I got picked up on a yacht to the festival. I just thought, ‘I know this is going to be a good party.’ And it was. That moment really kicked off something special for me.”

His Own Festival – TRICK

Launching TRICK Records
His label has become a hub for innovative, energetic house music and a launchpad for up-and-coming talent. Trick is characterised by bespoke productions and exciting line-ups featuring artists at the forefront of the house and techno world. Initially launched as a record label to exhibit Topping’s versatility as a producer, it has gone on to showcase new emerging talent and since developed into a burgeoning lifestyle brand.
Whilst partnering with premiere promoters in key cities, such as Terminal V in Edinburgh, The Warehouse Project in Manchester and Thick As Thieves in Melbourne, as well as booking some of the biggest and most cutting-edge names in the scene, from Floorplan to Green Velvet, Luciano to Fjaak, Trick continues to push its own up & coming artists, the likes of Elliot Adamson, Ewan Mcvicar & Ammara. As the label closes in on its 30threlease, it has already established a unique and taste-making back catalogue and continues to carve its own path.

Miami Moments
Patrick didn’t just play Ultra — he also made surprise appearances across the city during Miami Music Week, including a secret pop-up show on Saturday and a massive closing set at Factory Town on Sunday, where he lit up the dancefloor under the Miami moonlight.
Words of Wisdom for Upcoming DJs
In the music scene where the pressure to party can sometimes overwhelm the focus on craft, Patrick keeps it real with aspiring DJs:
“Work hard, produce music, and if you can — go home,” he says. “I moved back to my mum’s for a bit to really lock in on music. There’s no place like home when you’re trying to stay grounded and focused
He also addressed the culture of substance use in the industry:
“There’s this idea that you need drugs or alcohol to be successful or to have fun. That’s just not true. You don’t need any of that — you can stay focused, keep your head clear, and still make amazing music.”
As the interview wrapped, Patrick sent a message straight to his fans:
