Progressive house DJ and producer D:Fuse has died

American DJ, producer, and Perfecto Records-signee D:Fuse has died, a friend of the late artist has confirmed.

“Dustin Fuselier [AKA D:Fuse] passed away on Saturday, February 22, from causes unknown at this time,” fellow DJ and producer Fyzikal Music told Mixmag.

A memorial service is set to go ahead in Baytown, Texas, on Monday, March 9. The service will gather friends and family, and is due to be livestreamed online.

Friends of Fuselier have paid tribute on social media. DJ Silver wrote in an Instagram post: “He had gone through so much these last few years with his mental and physical health. RIP, my dear Dustin – you will be missed tremendously!”

Dustin Fuselier began working in nightclubs in Austin, Texas, during the ‘90s, where he honed his early music career. There, he began performing under the alias Culture Industry as a drummer and singer, before learning to DJ.

Alongside Australian singer-songwriter Shane Howard, Fuselier formed the group Expansion, putting out much-loved singles including ‘Feel’ and ‘Listen’, which garnered attention from the likes of Sasha, Dave Seaman, and John Digweed.

In the late ‘90s, Fuselier was signed to Moonshine Records, releasing three mix compilations – one of which included his hit solo single ‘Body Shock’ – selling more than 12,000 copies in total.

Later, Fuselier signed to Paul Oakenfold’s Perfecto Records after joining him on an extensive 50-date sold out tour, releasing another hit single, ‘She Rides’, in 2001 which went on to reach number 85 in the UK singles chart.

Over the course of his career, Fuselier released nine albums. His last record, ‘reconstructing midnight’, landed in late 2024, described by Fuselier as a “project of love, sweat, tears and joy”.
