REMAIIN issues open call for musical projects with non-western influences
The project has launched an open call for musical projects that align with its guiding ethos.
REMAIIN, or Radical European Music and its Intercultural Nature, is a music-led project that spotlights non-European cultural influences within experimental and avant-garde music. Since its launch in 2020, the project has presented a variety of works spanning film, music and literature, as well as other physical happenings.
The project has announced an open call for musical proposals that deal with non-western influences. The deadline for submissions is 25 February, with applicants invited to submit their proposals via the REMAIIN website. Works will need to be presented in 2022, and there’s an emphasis on live presentation – installations, concerts and performance pieces, for instance. However, REMAIIN has stated that works can also be presented in alternative forms in light of the fast-changing of the pandemic and social distancing restrictions.
REMAIIN is co-funded by the Creative Europe programme of the European Union. It’s helmed by the three festivals Skaņu Mežs, Wilde Westen and Out.Ra, along with the German concert series Kontraklang.
