Röyksopp share new single, ‘(Nothing But) Ashes’: Listen
Röyksopp have shared a new single, titled ‘(Nothing But) Ashes’.
A week on from teasing new material with the launch of an official Instagram account, the Norwegian duo of Svein Berge and Torbjørn Brundtland released the piano-led ambient song on 1st January. It marks their first new track since 2016’s ‘Never Ever’.
Accompanied by a video by Scandanavian production company Bacon, the title for ‘(Nothing But) Ashes’ on YouTube includes the term ‘Profound Mysteries,’ hinting at further material to come. Watch below.
Röyksopp released what they called their fifth and final studio album, ‘The Inevitable End’, in 2014. “We feel like this is a goodbye to the traditional album format,” they said in a statement at the time, “In our consecutive run of albums, we have been able to say what we want to say and do what we want to do with the LP. We’re not going to stop making music, but [in] the album format as such, this is the last thing from us.”
Back in 2019, a rare Röyksopp record featuring a cover painted by Banksy became the most expensive record sold on Discogs that year. Last year, a limited edition vinyl copy of the duo’s album ‘Melody A.M.’, was sold on the online marketplace for $8,450.
