SHARKTANK rethink the boundaries of pop music on stunning new album “3”

A wonderful take on what pop music should be in 2025…

With their third studio album 3, SHARKTANK prove once again that they’re less interested in fitting into a genre than in reshaping it altogether.

The Viennese trio — Katrin Paucz, Mile Lechner, and Marco Kleebauer — have steadily carved out a sound that sits somewhere between indie pop’s immediacy, rap’s rhythmic grit, and the shimmering unpredictability of experimental electronica.

Rather than smoothing everything into a uniform polish, 3 thrives on contrast. At one moment it feels intimate and almost fragile, the next it bursts open with restless beats and textures that feel wired for the dance floor. What holds it all together is the interplay of the vocals: Paucz’s warm, melodic phrasing and Lechner’s sharp-edged delivery don’t just complement each other — they push against one another, sparking a kind of friction that keeps the songs alive long after they’re over.

Lead single “Crash” embodies that restless tension: a driving, kinetic track that captures the group’s knack for channeling raw energy without losing control. Meanwhile, songs like “Dangerous” showcase their ability to blend underground club aesthetics with pop immediacy, layering intricate rhythms under hooks that linger for days.

If earlier SHARKTANK releases hinted at their ambition, 3 feels like a confident step into maturity. It’s exploratory without being indulgent, playful but never lightweight. In a landscape where many acts chase trends, SHARKTANK seem intent on building their own ecosystem.

The album arrives just as they gear up for their first-ever headlining European tour this autumn, where these songs are sure to take on an even bigger life in the live setting.
