Snail Mail shares new video for pop-infused single Ben Franklin

Lindsey Jordan will release her second album, Valentine, next month.

Snail Mail has released a new single entitled Ben Franklin alongside an accompanying music video. The new track is the second to be lifted from her forthcoming second album Valentine, which was unveiled in September. At the time, Snail Mail – aka Lindsey Jordan – also shared the project’s title track, plus another new visual.

In a statement, the Maryland-born singer and guitarist said: “I wanted to sonically and lyrically get out of my comfort zone with Ben Franklin.” She added: “It felt only right that the visual accompaniment should include dancing in front of a camera and holding a 10-foot snake close to my face.”

Valentine is slated for release on 5 November via Matador Records. It’s the follow-up to her debut album Lush, which was released in 2018. In our review of Lush, we said: “On her debut album as Snail Mail, Jordan pines for a series of former lovers throughout the album, and it’s refreshing to hear the emotions which we usually thrash out in our own heads being clearly communicated with no shame.”
