Steve Aoki designs £3,000 watch “made for raves”
Steve Aoki has designed a £3,050 watch for luxury manufacturer Bulgari, which he says is “made for raves”.
News of the collaboration broke in an interview Bloomberg, including details of the watch’s Superluminova dial that lights up, a feature the American EDM DJ and entrepreneur suggests is “perfect for waving around at your next festival in lieu of a glow stick.”
“Bulgari is art. With certain brands, they get to the point of a legacy where they just never depreciate. I’m a collector; I collect physical art and I’m a NFT guy,” said Aoki. “Bulgari just has that premium. It goes up in value and it has a history and culture. And it takes a lot of time, and being masters of your work, to get there. They’re just so high caliber, it’s such an honor to be able to work with them at this level.”
Anyone looking to pick up one of the watches can receive updates directly from Bulgari on the forthcoming launch. Last year we reported on Aoki’s new musical about the Mozart family, which will open at New York’s Carnegie Hall this year. In January 2020, he was made creative director for Tic Tac. He also lays claim to his own workout app and pizza delivery company, Pizzaoki.
