Twitch introduce Soundtrack: pre-cleared music for your streams
Twitch has introduced Soundtrack, a new service that lets users integrate pre-cleared music into their streams. Soundtrack will initially feature over one million tracks from 30 different labels and sources including DistroKid, SoundCloud, Anjunabeats, Monstercat, Ninjatune, Future Classic and more.
Soundtrack works by incorporating a plugin into your streaming software, such as OBS, and creating a separate audio channel on your stream, that can then play pre-cleared music from Soundtrack. You can choose playlists, which is a list of tracks based on genres, moods and labels, or radio, which is a continuous stream of music of a certain style. Both the playlists and the radio are curated by Twitch staff and partners.
The new update doesn’t really help DJs who might find their tracks flagged with copyright issues – it’s aimed at gamers and other content streamers avoiding takedowns. Soundtrack will only work during your live broadcast. Once the video is archived, the music will be muted.
If you want to submit your music to be considered for Soundtrack, you distribute it through SoundCloud or DistroKid. This is the full list of labels, distributors and artists working with Twitch on Soundtrack. Follow DJ Mag on Twitch here.
